Youth Football

A study from researchers at the VA-BU-CLF Brain Bank shows that the age an individual starts to play tackle football could lead to earlier onset of cognitive and emotional symptoms among athletes who were diagnosed with CTE and other brain diseases.

There is a growing movement to promote flag football for youth under the age of 14, to protect against long-term effects on the brain. We recommend the Concussion Legacy Foundation website focusing on their Flag Football Under 14 initiative. Also recommended is a white paper about their Flag Football Under 14 which is on their website and you can also read here.
