Improving sleep and sleep-related outcomes in veterans with and without a head injury

A fully remote study, hosted by the Portland VA Medical Center, is investigating "Improving sleep, sleep-related outcomes, and biomarkers in Veterans." Veterans with and without a history of head injury are eligible for the study.

The purpose of this research study is to learn about how receiving bright light or negative ions in the morning might affect sleep in veterans of all ages.

For this study, you would spend 60 minutes every morning next to the lightbox or negative ion generator for up to 4 weeks. This is a randomized controlled study, meaning that you will not choose which device you use; instead, it will be randomly assigned to you. You would also wear an Actiwatch, which records your activity level and sleep pattern. You will be compensated up to $180 in gift cards (either Fred Meyer or Amazon).

If you are interested in participating, please fill out the prescreening form to assess eligibility or leave a voicemail at (503) 468-6002 with your name and phone number.
